The DML500 ships from FlatPanel Audio with a baked on powder coat finish, available in either black or white. We also have the ability to color coat in approximately 30 readily available colors with RAL color codes - please contact us if you would like to review these colors. NOTE: These 30 colors are colors that are available in small quantities - should you need a more exact match, we can acquire many more RAL colors, however it will require the purchase of a minimum amount of powder (usually 100lb.) Please contact us for a quote as needed.

Note: Powder coating is unlike paint, where colors are easily mixed together to form new colors by using liquid tints. Because powder coating is a dry, electrostatic process involving crushed plastic resins, you can't simply "stir" colors together to get a new solid shade. Each grain of powder coat has to be engineered to be the same color as the next grain, since no "mixing" occurs.

Because of this, colors must be chosen specifically from the color chip books of the powder coat manufacturer where the colors have been engineered to be consistent across batches, and these batches are available in small quantities. Most powder coating manufacturers have assigned a RAL color codes to their finishes.

In order to get the closest match possible, you will need to use the manufacturer's color chips and find a color that closely matches your intended result. Choosing simply by RAL color number, in our experience, can have somewhat variable results. However using a manufacturer's color chips is extremely consistent.

Note that all DML500 loudspeakers are coated using a finely textured coating. Please contact us to discuss other textures if your project requires.

FlatPanel Audio offers two methods for custom color finishing:

Option 1: Choose from 200 readily available colors

FlatPanel Audio offers any one of the nearly 30 colors available in Tiger Finishes.  Contact us to obtain a physical copy of this color chip book in order to choose your color - screen colors can vary significantly from computer to computer. The colors in this chip book are common colors that are manufactured regularly by the manufacturer, so they are not considered a custom powder coat finish, and can be purchased in small amounts. 

To order this custom color: Simply order DML500-CUS on your purchase order, and state your Tiger color code from the brochure. 

Option 2: Choose from an additional larger list of custom-order colors

If you are unable to find a suitable color from the readily available color palette mentioned above, FlatPanel Audio offers three additional sets of color chips from Prismatic Colors' RAL color chip sets. If you would like to choose from this set of colors, please be aware that custom colors from these palettes have a rather large minimum powder quantity purchase (much more than is needed for several DML500 loudspeakers.

Once you have chosen your color, please contact us for a price quote - this quote will be based on the minimum powder purchase price from the manufacturer, and will be factored across the number of DML500 loudspeakers that you intend to coat, to provide to you a final price for each DML500 that you wish to order.

Note that the cloth that is installed behind the mesh grille in the front and back of the DML500 is available in either black or white. We'll choose the color which provides the least amount of contrast from your chosen DML500 color.
