NOTE (North America 120v power only): Please read our article that describes nominal power consumption of the LEA CS1504-1504D amplifier when used with FlatPanel Audio loudspeakers, and proper amplifier load balancing. If you are using a CS1504/1504D in any other configuration, such as driving 4 dedicated subwoofers, you may be calling upon the amplifier to draw over 20Amps, which may trip your local circuit breaker - in which case you may need to have a 30A circuit installed. You can read more on this here.
Fitting a power cord to the CS1504 (North America)
NOTE: Regions with 220-240v power will not usually be concerned with this North American limitation - in North America, 120v commercial outlets are generally limited to 20 Amps. In countries with 220v power, the current draw of the CS1504 at max output will be approximately 1/2 the current draw at 120v, usually well within the current limits of outlets in that region.
LEA CS1504 amplifiers ship with a 30 amp NEMA L5-30P plug on the supply-side of the cable. 30 Amp 120v power outlets are not commonly available, except on portable distro's or new construction with 30A service specified. In our experience, were 1/2 of the CS1504's channels are driving DMLs and 1/2 of the channels are driving subwoofers, the amplifier will never be called upon to deliver all 1500 watts per channel across all 4 channels, thus it is highly unlikely that the amplifier will ever draw it's maximum potential 22 Amps.
Do you need to make a standard 20A "Edison" cord for your CD1504 amplifier? The best way to do this is to acquire a good quality 15A or 20A power cord - either an IEC cable, or a good 12 gauge extension cord (10 feet or less recommended.) In the case of the IEC cable, simply cut off the IEC end and remove the PowerCon32 from the LEA supplied cable and install on the IEC cable where the IEC connector was removed, or cut off the "socket" end of the 12 gauge extension cord and install the PowerCon32 connector where the socket end used to be.
Here's instructions on how to install the Powercon32
NOTE: Please unplug all power cords from the power source and from the equipment before modifying, and please have your work inspected by someone qualified to determine electrical regulations have been met for your area.
