DML500 has quickly built up a reputation for being the go-to loudspeaker for rooms with less-than-optimal acoustic characteristics. DMLs generate uncorrelated sound waves, and when those sound waves interact with the rooms boundaries (walls, ceiling, etc) the integration is dramatically less destructive than with a traditional, point-source loudspeaker. Placed in the same room, a point-source loudspeaker's correlated sound waves will result in comb-filtering when all of the differing arrivals of sound reach the listener. Ina DML, this teaches the listener as uncorrelated reverberation. Translation - no comb filtering, enhancing clarity and even-ness of sound around the room.

This reputation of being the "difficult room" go-to solution can incorrectly lead people to believe that in a well-behaved acoustic environment, there's no benefits to a DML. This could not be father from the trut

In a well-behaved acoustic environment, the DML excels like no other.

Many who have listened to DMLs in a "good" room have remarked phrases like "this sounds like a studio monitor in a live amplified setting" and "it's like wearing headphones in the room."

With minimal room interaction in a well-treated room, the listener is left to hear the direct sound from the loudspeaker due to minimal reflections. This sound is extremely clear and detailed, thanks to the DML500's  3rd order harmonic distortion being immeasurable by most common tools. In addition, with 165 degrees of coverage and no negative interaction between DMLs covering different sides of the room, the listener is left to experience stereo in a live setting like never before.

Now let's take the stereo example above, and apply it to immersive (surround sound/3D spaces) and we achieve a whole new experience! With traditional point source loudspeakers, each loudspeaker is not able to cover the whole audience with direct sound, and users are left to depend on reflections - and and with that, some directionality is lost. With A DML500's 165 degrees of coverage, there are very few spots in the room where the audience can't be covered with direct sound - and that direct sound results in very accurate placement in the 3d space.

If you have only heard DML500 in a sub-optimal room, do yourself a favor and let us arrange a demo for you in a well-behaved acoustic space . It is a remarkable experience
